Melrose Residence
The Best House Hotel in Pamukkale Turkey
"Wonderful Hotel--And Fantastic Meals!"
We stayed here during April 2007. We had a large, clean room overlooking the garden and pool. Ummi, the owner, is an excellent chef--we ate all our meals at the hotel during our two-day stay in Pamukkale (including a sandwich Ummi made for our trip to Aphrodiaias). The hotel has a lovely garden and pool. from in CA
"A great place to stay"
We spent several days at the Melrose Residence in April and would have spent much longer if we had more time. The owners, Ummu and Mehmet, made us feel right at home and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable. Ummu cooked some of the best meals we had during our month in Turkey. Her Sac Kebap is so delicious. The place is spotless, the garden/pool area very peaceful. I highly recommend this hotel from in Alaska
"Best Food I Had in Turkey"All the wonderful things people have already written about this place are true. I'll just add one point. When my wife and I were in Istanbul we ate at the Asitane Restaurant -- which both the Lonely Planet and the New York Times said was one of the best restaurants in Turkey. The food there was pretty good. But, I swear, Ummi's food at the Melrose House was better! Nothing really fancy, just simple, deliciously prepared food -- including lots of great vegetables (great for me as a vegetarian). I'm not a big fan of eggplant/aubergine, but Ummi convinced me to try hers and it was the single best dish I had during our three-week trip. from in USA
"Poolside Meals and Perfect Hosts"
After travelling around Turkey for a few weeks I was looking for a place where I could really relax. I found that comfort at the Melrose Allgau. The owners couldn't be more inviting and helpful, even organizing day trips to Afrodisias. The home cooked meals were delicious and the breakfast was the perfect way to start each day. Depending on your tastes there are shady and sunny areas around the garden and pool. I was looking to stay two or three days and stayed for 4. I just wich I would have ordered one more of the dinners before I left for the overnight train back to Istanbul. Mehmet and Ummu - thank you for everything! from in Toronto
"Wonderful!"
We spent only one night here passing through Pamukkale to see the travertines but it was worth it! The owners were very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and spacious and the food was fantastic...real home cooking that beats the food at many of the restaurants we tried in Turkey. from in Toronto
"Best Hotel in Turkey!"We weren't planning on staying long in Pamukkale but Melrose Hotel immediately became our favorite part of the entire trip. Our train was late into Denizli and Mehmet was kind enough to pick us up from the train station and give us something to eat (we were starving - the food there was delicious) and then the next day just lounging by the pool, drinking beers and eating the (again delicious) food was exactly what we needed and wanted out of this fantastic Turkish travel experience. from in Chicago
Pamukkale, Turkey. These hot thermal springs pour down the hillside and deposit calcium carbonate, which solidifies as travertine. If you take off your shoes, you can gingerly roam the terraces or paddle in the pools. The Turks have dubbed this geological fairyland Pamukkale, or "cotton castle".
